A short story:
My Internship Experience at CEEYA, INC.
When I was offered an internship at Ceeya, a small business promotion firm in Silicon Valley, I didn’t quite know what to expect. The title “Social Media Manager & Assistant Marketing Intern” sounded exciting, but I quickly realized just how much responsibility it came with. My first assignment was to conduct a competitor analysis—a deep dive into over 400 industry leaders, identifying trends, strengths, and opportunities that could guide Ceeya’s strategy. It felt overwhelming at first, like I was navigating a sea of unfamiliar data with no clear direction. But then I started to look beyond the individual statistics and instead focused on the patterns that could tell a bigger story about our place in the market. That shift changed everything. When I presented my findings to the team, I felt proud knowing that my insights were actionable and meaningful, not just a collection of numbers.
The most rewarding parts of my internship, though, came from working on Ceeya’s social media presence, I had always loved creative projects, but this was different—I wasn’t just creating for the sake of creating; I was crafting posts that needed to connect with an audience. Using platforms like Canva Pro and Adobe Photoshop, I designed educational and visually engaging Instagram posts that spoke directly to entrepreneurs, showcasing how Ceeya could empower their businesses. The results were immediate: over 5,000 new interactions in just a few weeks. Seeing those numbers grow and knowing that my work had a direct impact on the brand’s visibility gave me a sense of accomplishment I’d never experienced before.
One of the projects I’m most proud of was creating Ceeya’s User of the Week series. I had the opportunity to interview some of our current clients, learn about their stories, and create tailored Instagram posts that highlighted their businesses. These posts served a dual purpose: they gave clients much-needed exposure to attract new customers and also showcased the real-world impact of Ceeya’s platform. Seeing our clients’ excitement and gratitude made the project deeply rewarding and reinforced the importance of thoughtful storytelling in marketing.
However, the most valuable lesson from my time at Ceeya wasn’t about creating content or analyzing competitors—it was about how interconnected every role in a business is. Whether I was brainstorming Instagram captions, refining audience segments, or presenting to the team, I saw firsthand how every piece of work contributed to something bigger. It was a realization that no business class or textbook could teach me. By the end of the internship, I wasn’t just more confident in my skills; I had a clearer sense of how I could use them to make a meaningful impact in whatever I pursue next.
